#MakeAStand

18 June 2018

P3 Charity has signed up to the ‘Make a Stand’ pledge on tackling domestic abuse.

The pledge has been developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing, in partnership with Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance. It encourages organisations to meet four commitments to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

The four promises are:

  1. Put in place and embed a policy to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse.
  2. Make information about national and local domestic abuse support services available on your website and in other appropriate places so that they are easily accessible for residents and staff.
  3. Put in place an HR policy, or amend an existing policy, to support members of staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse.
  4. Appoint a champion at a senior level in your organisation to own the activity you are doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

P3 Director of Property and Assets Kathy Kozlowski will be leading on our commitment to fulfil the pledge by September 2019. Here she shares her support for people who have experienced domestic abuse and talks about the importance of this call to action:

“Make A Stand is a positive pledge created to encourage housing organisations to make a commitment to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

“Such abuse is one of the biggest issues in society today, especially because so many people are afraid to report their abuser and access support. It is thought many millions of people are affected by domestic abuse every year, and tragically, we know two women are killed every week by their partner or ex-partner.

“By taking the pledge, P3 promises to work alongside others to support both our residents and our members of staff who are affected by domestic abuse.”
