Argos volunteers get green fingers at Grangeway!

Volunteers from the Call Centre for Argos Financial Services in Widnes turned up in their finest boots and overalls at P3’s Grangeway Court supported housing in Cheshire this Monday, to help transform the garden alongside staff and clients.

The team potted plants, helped paint and decorate an outdoor play hut and play area and created vibrant bird boxes with some of Grangeway’s youngest residents.

Supporting homeless children and families

Sharron Darnell, Risk Analyst at Argos explained:

“When we were sent your email explaining how you work with children and families who are homeless, we thought ‘yes’, this is what we want to do!”

P3 provides transitional accommodation for homeless children and families at Grangeway Court, whilst linking them to other services and supporting them to access long-term, suitable accommodation. These improvements are designed to make a fun, safe outdoor space which they can enjoy. Future plans include creating vegetable beds to encourage families to get involved in growing their own food and benefit from a healthier lifestyle.

Kirsty Adamson, Senior Risk & Control Lead said:

“We’re a new team and this was an opportunity for us to do something together, giving back to the local community – what we can do adds value – as a small team that’s making a bigger difference for others.”

One of the clients added: “Grangeway Court is fantastic, they make you feel so safe here. The staff are brilliant and always there when you need them. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and this work in the garden will add to that.”

And what did the kids think?

“All we need now is some glitter paint and a glitter ball to finish it!”
