P3 Celebrates Volunteering

Louise Owen-McGee 25 May 2017

This year National Volunteers’ Week is 1-10 June, but here at P3 the celebrations are already underway as we wanted to ensure we truly celebrate our volunteers in style and make them feel appreciated.

P3’s first volunteering event took place on Monday at our Wolverhampton Navigator. Our staff joined with local volunteers to share their thanks and gratitude for their invaluable work and to affirm the real difference their contribution makes to vulnerable lives every day.

Certificates were presented to eight volunteers who have successfully completed their induction training, followed by a celebratory lunch for everyone.

P3 Volunteer Manager Jodie Cook took the time to share how valued P3’s volunteers are saying: “National Volunteers Week is a really important way of celebrating our diverse and increasing volunteer team. We already know that every volunteer’s time is valued by our staff, but this one week gives us a real chance to commend and celebrate. This time away from the role is crucial to acknowledge their hard work and the talent they contribute daily across the country.

“Everyone that chooses to volunteer with P3 has made an amazing decision to give up their personal leisure time to support our clients. This generosity makes me so proud to be able to be part of their development within P3. Through the delivery of our structured training programme we are able to offer a bespoke volunteer learning package and the opportunity for our volunteer’s on-going personal development.

“I am so amazed by how far we have come with our volunteer recruitment and retention. In September 2015 we had four volunteers within P3 and today after promoting roles we have grown exponentially – we now have 73 people!”

Jodie finished by stating: “It’s a real honour to manage our volunteer programme and I am blown away by individual stories of how people have decided to volunteer with us.

“Thankyou to every single one of you for helping to change lives.”

P3 CEO Mark Simms also added his personal thanks to our dedicated volunteers stating: “P3 is national charity with a staff team of around 700 people, yet despite what seems to be a huge resource, we simply couldn’t do what we do without the support of our amazing volunteers.

“Volunteers at P3 are generous, committed people and I want you to know how much your input, support and passion as a volunteer is appreciated.

“I want to emphasise the true value that each and every volunteer adds to the work we are doing and the lives we are changing across the country, it’s much more than money, it’s always more than time. It’s in the projects that are completed and always in the stories that our clients tell us about the kindness, compassion, humility and humour that a volunteer has shown, that has made such a huge difference to them.”
