High Sheriff Award for Gainsborough Manager

Rachel Reeves 29 March 2023

A P3 manager has received a Lincolnshire High Sheriff’s Award for her work on a regeneration project in the county.

Neighbourhood Manager Rachel Hampton received the award from Lincolnshire High Sheriff Tim Strawson in recognition of what she has done for the town of Gainsborough.

P3 is in partnership with West Lindsey District Council for a ten-year programme to buy, renovate and let 100 homes in Gainsborough to destabilise rogue landlords and improve housing quality. The council has given £1 million towards the regeneration, which has also seen the clean-up and renovation of a local park.

Rachel said: "Although it was lovely to be nominated and receive the award, I have a whole team behind me handling things like accounts, rent and property, so really it is an award for the team, not me. I've just done the running around!

"There's a real change going on in Gainsborough, which is wonderful. I just wish I had more hours in the day!"

As Neighbourhood Manager, Rachel is the main point of contact for people in Gainsborough to reach P3.

When P3 purchases new properties, she visits the tenants – who may not be aware that their home has changed hands – to introduce P3 and check to see if any repair work is needed. She also stays in contact with tenants and ensures that any issues that arise are dealt with fully and promptly.

Her work also includes local “walkabouts” – outreach events where she meets people in the community to listen to their thoughts, concerns and suggestions.
