Rugby Portobello Trust receives Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
P3’s Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT) is incredibly proud to announce its volunteers have been honoured with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).
The award, which aims to recognise the outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local communities, is the equivalent of an MBE and was created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Winners are announced each year on 2 June, the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation.
Receipt of the award follows a rigorous nomination process that began in 2017. Members of the QAVS selection committee have visited RPT to see the services running and met with the adults and young people we work alongside, our volunteers and staff.
P3 CEO Mark Simms stated: “I am absolutely delighted that our volunteers are being recognised with this collective MBE. This is a prestigious award and a huge tribute. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of RPT and undertake so many essential roles. Their loyalty and dedication has taken us through the best of times and some of the most difficult times in recent history in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Without them we simply would not be able to do what we do.
“On behalf of everyone who works for the P3 Charity Group, I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one of our volunteers, both past and present.”
Head of Services Sophie Fitzhugh added: “QAVS is recognition of what we have known for many years and see daily: that our volunteers have established a benchmark for excellent work. We have more than 200 volunteers working across our activities and fundraising events; the support they give is far more than a welcome addition it is vital to the continuation and success of RPT’s programmes, which support some of the most vulnerable and at-risk people in the North Kensington area.”
Further congratulations were voiced by Volunteer Manager Liz Dingemans: “It is brilliant to be able to announce this auspicious news in ‘Volunteers’ Week’, what a way to thank all our volunteers for the contributions each of them make.”
A Magic Mums volunteer talked about their role: “I wanted to give something back, but I was also looking for more structure in a socially engaging environment and RPT has given me that and so much more. Their professional approach permeates every activity undertaken and I am proud to be a small part of this organisation, working with young mums to strengthen their family situation and develop their parenting skills.”
This award showcases the trust placed in P3 Charity Group’s volunteers, the depth of their support and the training they receive. All our volunteers both past and present embody our values, purpose and role in the Kensington & Chelsea community.
