BBC Radio 4 features P3 story of hope

Support worker Helen Chase from P3 Warwickshire will appear on Radio 4 this Sunday 1 December, as part of the Radio 4 Christmas Appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields, which raises money to transform the lives of people affected by homelessness across the UK.

The focus of the programme is on Noel and his story, after a series of setbacks and family bereavement left him with nowhere to live. The piece will highlight how organisations like P3 and St Martin-in-the-Fields working together can make a huge difference in enabling people to turn their lives around.

Helen worked alongside Noel at P3's Navigator in Nuneaton, securing a grant from the Vicar’s Relief Fund--funded through the Christmas Appeal--so that Noel could put down a deposit for a home. This in turn led to him being able to get a new job.

Noel said:

“I came to a point where I thought ‘now, there’s no car to sleep in… You’re not able to sleep in the park, you are not able to find somewhere warm because it’s getting too cold. So I went online and started searching for help.”

“[P3] were just waiting there… Just helping people out… We just talked about what’s gone on, why I’ve got to this stage. Things they could do to help me to move forward.”

In further good news, Noel will soon be joining P3 as a member of the staff team in Nuneaton and is planning to run the London Marathon for P3. We look forward to welcoming him aboard!
