How to set up a campaign

If you’re passionate about supporting P3 and want to raise funds online, JustGiving is the easiest and most effective platform to get started. Below is a simple guide to help you set up your JustGiving fundraising page and start making a difference.

1. Visit JustGiving

Visit www.justgiving.com to get started.

2. Click 'Start Fundraising'

Click the blue ‘Start Fundraising’ button on the homepage.

3. Registered charity

When asked ‘Are you fundraising for a registered charity?’, select ‘Yes, continue’.

4. Sign up or log in

If you’re new to JustGiving, click ‘Sign Up’ at the bottom of the page and complete the registration process. If you already have an account, simply log in.

5. Search for P3 Charity

Use the search bar to look for ‘P3 Charity’. Scroll down to find and select P3 under the Charities section (don’t select anything under the ‘Campaigns’ category).

6. Choose event

If you’re participating in an organised event such as a marathon, choose from the provided options. If you’re organising your own fundraiser, select ‘Doing your own thing’.

7. Enter your details

Enter your event or campaign details. If this is a general or ongoing online campaign, no date is required.

8. Set a target

Decide on a realistic goal for donations. A clear target motivates supporters to contribute and will help you reach your target.

9. Personalise it

Add a personal story about why you’re fundraising for P3, and get in touch for things such as photos and case studies to add to your page.

10. Share it!

Share your unique URL with friends, family and co-workers, and create a QR code to print and use at events or gatherings.

Top tips for success:

  • ​​​Update your page regularly: Keep your supporters updated on your progress towards your fundraising target, share milestones and thank donors as they contribute.​​​​ ​
  • Add offline donations: If friends or family donate directly to you, you can manually update your fundraising page in the campaign settings.
  • Visuals matter: Use engaging photos or videos to tell the story of P3 and your fundraising efforts.​​​​ ​
  • Share, share, share: Share your campaign web address on social media, via text and WhatsApp and via email. Even print our signs with your unique QR code and post it at work. The more often you share your campaign, the more likely you are to reach your target, so don’t be shy and start shouting about it!​​​​​

​​​JustGiving charges small transaction fees to process debit or credit card payments and P3 pays a small admin fee for JustGiving to collect gift aid on our behalf, but these fees are minimal and help us make best use of our time and support for you.​ 

​​​If you’re raising money with a JustGiving page, donations you collect can easily be boosted with gift aid.

As long as the person donating to your fundraising page is an eligible UK taxpayer and they tick the gift aid box, their donation will be boosted by 25% at no extra cost to them.​ 

​​​When someone donates on JustGiving, they have a couple of privacy options that they can opt into: They can elect to have their donation completely private, where we (the charity) and you (the campaign page owner) can’t see who the donor was, or they can elect to keep their donation just hidden from the public.

Rest assured, the vast majority of donors don’t make their donations anonymous, so both and and P3 will be able to thank them for their support.
