Supporting young people to find lasting routes out of homelessness

What we do

This service works intensively with young people, who sometimes fall through the net, to help them get their lives back on track.

With the right support, everyone can play a positive part in their community and live a fulfilled life, and this service helps young people to do exactly that. By supporting them to sustain their housing, gain qualifications and training - and eventually to obtain paid employment.

We can support you with:

  • Mental health
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Offending
  • Accommodation
  • Budgeting
  • Addiction issues
  • Relationships

Who we support

This service is for people aged 18-24 who live in Leicester, Derby and Derbyshire, who are homeless, not in education, training or employment and are struggling to get the support they need from other services.

We can help if you are:

  • Aged 18 to 24
  • Not in education, employment or training
  • Homeless (as a single person)
  • Not in priority need for housing

How to get help

Derbyshire Homelessness Service

Why can't I refer?

This service is a pilot project - in the first year of the project we started working with over 100 young people. We are now working with them to maintain their accommodation and move towards employment, education or volunteering to enable them to sustain their independence.

How we’re funded:

This service is a partnership between three organisations: P3, YMCA Derbyshire and the Y. It is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government's Fair Chance Fund and through finance raised via a Social Impact Bond (SiB) with private social investors. You can read more about what this means and how it works here.
