About the Ambition project

This service worked intensively with young people aged 18-24, who sometimes fall through the net, to help them get their lives back on track.

With the right support, everyone can play a positive part in their community and live a fulfilled life, and this service helped young people to do exactly that. By supporting them to sustain their housing, gain qualifications and training - and eventually to obtain paid employment.

Support covered:

  • Mental health
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Offending
  • Accommodation
  • Budgeting
  • Addiction issues
  • Relationships

What we achieved

Ambition served to help young people who had been deemed 'unsupportable' by other services, and who often had complex needs and faced multiple, difficult challenges in their lives.

As of the end of the project, 78 young people are sustaining accommodation after 12 months, 58 have entered education, with 31 gaining entry level qualifcations and 19 achieving Level 1 qualifications. 38 have entered into employment, while 19 are holding full-time jobs.

Read about the real impact this had on young people's lives in our interview with Fair Chance Fund project leaders, Rebecca and Ella.

How we’re funded:

This service was a partnership between three organisations: P3, YMCA Derbyshire and the Y. It is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government's Fair Chance Fund and through finance raised via a Social Impact Bond (SiB) with private social investors.
