P3 Charity Accommodation Receives Loving Makeover

P3 Charity’s Supported-Housing Accommodation in Coventry Receives Loving Makeover Thanks to Volunteers from the Kier Group.

A team of 11 dedicated volunteers from the Kier Group joined P3 Charity to transform one of our supported-housing services into a brighter and more welcoming home for women experiencing or at risk of homeless.

Based in Coventry, P3’s Intensive Housing Management Service provides vital temporary accommodation for up to three women at a time, offering support to help them move on to long-term, stable housing. The service also provides housing advice, budgeting guidance and benefits support from trained P3 staff, as well as referrals to external services.

As part of our wider mission to help people rebuild their lives and secure long-term housing, P3 takes a holistic approach to support, meaning support is built on trust from the ground up.

Kier recognises that at P3, accommodation is more than just shelter – it’s a home for individuals in need. The group’s hands-on support has given the accommodation a much-needed refresh, spending the day sanding surfaces, painting and adding homely touches to communal spaces, including a feature wall chosen by the residents.

As Erin Coburn, Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications for P3 Charity, said: “This makeover is more than just fresh paint. It’s a reflection of dignity, partnership and community. These aren’t just buildings: they’re people’s homes, and when they feel looked after, the people living there do, too.”

This volunteering day is an example of when a community comes together for the greater good. The redecoration is a joint effort between P3’s professional maintenance team, who led the project, and volunteers from Kier . P3’s maintenance team is responsible for nearly 1,000 sites across the UK, and without the support of these volunteers, these improvements would have taken months to complete.

Echoed by Andrew Bannister, Deputy Maintenance Manager for P3 Charity, who oversaw the redecoration project: “Working across such a broad depth of accommodations all over the country, the capacity of P3’s maintenance team is really stretched right now; therefore, the presence of the Kier volunteers has made a huge impact for not just the people we support at P3, but our team. What would have taken three months has only taken a day!”

Despite the pressure on the charity sector in recent years, P3 Charity continues to support over 30,000 people through a wide range of services, including housing support, budgeting guidance and mental health support. Supporting adults, families and young people in need, P3’s delivery of services aims to support people to be valued, engaged members of the communities in which they live. The generosity of organisations such as Kier helps P3 to continue to go above and beyond for everyone receiving support.

Beneficial for more than just P3 Charity, volunteering days are perfect opportunities for corporates to have a team-bonding experience and meet important social value targets while doing good for the local community.

As Philip Miles, Kier Group’s Pre-Construction Director, said: “The group of us from Kier have had a great day. We usually work across the country, so it’s been great for our team to get together and do something that’s non-work related while doing something that’s hugely valuable for the community. It’s a great mix for us of both social value and work benefit.”
