The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, often within 24 hours.
The challenge can be undertaken between May and October.
The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3,064 metres (10,052ft). The total driving distance is 462 miles. The challenge scales the three highest peaks in within each representative country: Snowdon in Wales (1,085m), Scafell Pike in England (979m) and Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,345m).
There are two options for the National Three Peaks Challenge: a self-organised group or a professionally organised event.
Self-organised events can be the cheapest way to take part, with no registration fee and a minimal £500 sponsorship target, while many groups will benefit from the assistance provided by professional mountain guides, which comes with a £220 registration fee and a £2,200 sponsorship target.
