P3 Charity named as finalist in the UK Social Enterprise Awards

26 August 2021

P3, the social inclusion charity has been shortlisted in the 2021 UK Social Enterprise Awards, recognising the organisation as one of the leading social enterprises in the country.

P3 is a finalist for the Team of the Year Award. This Social Enterprise Award is one of two new categories for 2021, designed to specifically acknowledge teams who have demonstrated the strength, passion and resilience so characteristic of the social enterprise sector over an extremely challenging year.

Commenting on being shortlisted P3 CEO Mark Simms stated:

“This is an award for every single person at P3 who makes up our ‘one team’ approach to everything we do, and I couldn’t be prouder.

“The past year has posed many challenges, but the P3 team–and by this, I mean everyone–has given their utmost. Nearly 1,000 P3 people, brilliant staff and amazing volunteers dug-in and pulled out all the stops to face every challenge posed by Covid-19 head-on. This dogged determination enabled P3 to continue to open new services, buy and build new homes and support over 28,500 people going through a tough time to change their lives for the better.”

“The P3 team made sure our frontline services remained open 24/7 throughout these unprecedented times, meaning we were able to support more people into housing, education and employment than at any other time in our organisation’s history.”

Commenting on the Awards, Chief Executive of Social Enterprise UK Peter Holbrook said:

“The UK Social Enterprise Awards are back, bigger and better than ever before. We have had a record number of applications this year, all of which have showcased the strength, dynamism and resilience of the social enterprise community through what’s been an incredibly difficult and uncertain period.

“Over the course of the pandemic social enterprises have been going above and beyond the call of duty to support their teams, the individuals, and communities they work with, showing the grit, determination and innovation so inherent to this sector. They’ve been operating directly on the frontline of the crisis, launching new products and pivoting their business models to meet the needs of communities and society as a whole.

“The Awards are all about celebrating the achievements of the UK’s social enterprise movement, which is showing us that another way of doing business is possible—one which has never been more important as we look to build back better and address the climate emergency.”

The UK Social Enterprise Awards are run by Social Enterprise UK, the national membership body for social enterprises. These award nominations recognise the nation’s most pioneering social enterprises. The award winners will be announced at London’s iconic Guildhall on 8 December 2021.

Social enterprises are businesses which trade for a social or environmental purpose. There are 100,000 social enterprises in the UK contributing £60bn to the UK economy, each one being set up to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face from homelessness to the climate emergency.
